PLA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd and Warnor Bros’ Saas
Bahu Aur Sensex is finally out. The film is
undoubtedly different from the routine subjects. Set
against the backdrop of sensex, where women are seen
taking on the bull, the film has been directed by
Shona Uvashi. The Indian viewers have various
interests; amongst them are the ‘saas bahu’ shows,
which run on the TV channels heavily these days. The
director seemed to have interestingly combined her
daily dose of TV soaps and an updated stock market
understanding in the flick. |
| |
|
When one chips in views on ‘saas bahu’ shows and the
stock market, there oozes out so much to discover.
Shona uses the mind brilliantly to show the skills
on this subject. The movie vows to be a spoof on
endless, wretched and melodramatic ‘saas-bahu’
serials.
The flick tells the story of the kitty party
housewives who turn into professional stock
investors from saas-bahu serial fanatics. ‘Saas Bahu
Aur Sensex’ also |
|
 |
|
depicts the Indian economy in a positive manner and
further encourages the people to invest in stocks for the
development of the nation. The film’s main emphasis is on
the two favourite pastimes of the people in India, which are
to watch ‘saas bahu shows’ and the ‘sensex status’.
The director treats the flick with a feel good touch, which
simply attracts the viewers. The movie unzips with
mother-daughter duo who shifts to a new housing society in
Mumbai. Binita Sen (Kirron Kher) is the mother, who is a
divorcee. Her daughter Nitya (Tanushree Dutta) is an
ambitious young girl who aims to get MBA degree from some
foreign university but ends up in a call centre. Boy next
door Ritesh (Ankur Khanna) loves a girl Kirti (Masumeh). He
helps Nitya get a job. Here develops a love triangle. |
|
|
Amidst all, Binita, who wants to sell some of her
shares, bumps into a rude but sensitive stock broker
Feroz Sethna (Farooq Shiekh). He guides her into
proper investing. Soon, her entire gang is seen
investing in the stocks. What form the crux of the
tale are stock market fluctuations, kitty parties,
soap operas and the changing equations amongst the
youth.
The film is enjoyable but in parts. The main letdown
is |
|
 |
|
the stock market’s fluctuation, which do not appeal
to the viewers at all. It should have been avoided.
Otherwise the script by Shona is no doubt interesting. As a
director, Shona Urvashi deserves distinction marks. Music is
strictly okay.
Talking about the performers, Faroque Shiekh and Kirron Kher
loot the hearts with their power-packed acts. Tansushree
Dutta, Masumeh deliver the brilliant performance. Ankur
Khanna is wonderful to watch also. The rest of the cast
enacts well too.
In a nutshell, ‘Saas Bahu Aur Sensex’ is appealing with an
interesting subject but the good business might be seen in
some cities only. |
